I felt the Holy Spirt whisper to my spirit this morning the theme generosity. Normally when we think of someone being generous it is almost always with the connotation or tied to an understanding of money. But I felt the Holy Spirit say, “generosity in all things” or more succinctly be generous in everything you do.
Generous in compliments, generous in time committed, generous in giving, generous in patience, generous in understanding, generous in grace, generous in forgiveness, generous in faith, generous in believing the best, generous in speech, generous in actions and yes, generous in finances are just some of the ways we get to walk in generosity. It today’s market and today’s emotional strain, generosity will go a long way in reducing stress and frustration in others.
Peter says it this way, 1 Peter 4:10-11 Be generous with the different things God gave you, passing them around so all get in on it: 11 if words, let it be God’s words; if help, let it be God’s hearty help. That way, God’s bright presence will be evident in everything through Jesus, and he’ll get all the credit as the One mighty in everything — encores to the end of time. Oh, yes! (THE MESSAGE)
So, whatever you have, be generous in giving it to others as in doing so, He will get the credit and as Peter says, God’s bright presence will be evident. That’s what I was going for anyway. And you were to!
