Many churches have mission statements that reflect the Great Commandment and the Great Commission. For example:
- Reach – Teach – Send
- Empowered by God to reach others for Christ.
What we need is more clarity on the sending and reaching.
Are we building the local church or God’s kingdom? What does that look like, practically speaking?
Dream with me: If every new church believes church planting is the best way to reach people and make disciples, shouldn’t the multiplication process be in our DNA? Every church plant should be thinking of planting or assisting in planting a new church, even during their start-up phase.
Why? Because the statistics show that if a church has not multiplied itself in some fashion within the first 3 years, the focus will be on maintaining the status quo. This means, if there is any growth with the church, it will be by addition.
To maximize effectiveness, the lead pastor or primary vision carrier needs to have a multiplication mindset. They must keep the vision in front of the team and continuously speaking about it to the church family. When we do this, it leads to exponential growth. The house church/ micro-church movement has shown this is possible.
Please know, this is possible in any size church!
This happens when we determine in our heart to be a church that plants other churches.
If I can, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
