We are all stewards of all that the Lord has given us. When we think of stewardship, most of the time, we relegate it to stewarding finances. But the truth is, it encompasses so much more than just money. We are stewards of our time, our spiritual gifts, our intellectual resources, our relationships, both with the Lord and with those He has placed in our lives. We are stewards of ministry the Lord places us in, whether it is leading a church, small group, school board, and including being a catalyst in the marketplace displaying the power of the Kingdom on a daily basis. We are also stewards of the mysteries of God, to share them in clarity with those around us. It all takes stewarding and it is relegated to us to do it wisely.
Paul writes in I Cor 4:2 Let a man so consider us, as servants of Christ and stewards of the mysteries of God. 2 Moreover it is required in stewards that one be found faithful. Paul says that the requirement of a steward is to be found faithful. That means carrying out in a wise manner (stewarding) all that the Lord has entrusted in our care. I am not responsible for what He has given you, but I am very responsible for what He has provided me.
It would be a great time to do an awareness inventory of all that He has provided for you and then pray this prayer. Lord Jesus, I am so grateful for all that you have entrusted into my care. Lord, give me the wisdom and grace to care for it gracefully and use it to its fullest extent so that you might extend and expand your Kingdom through me. Help me to do it faithfully without regard of what it will cost me but more from the desire of the glory that you will receive as I do it wisely. In Jesus Precious Name!
