Is your life exciting or are you bored? Someone mentioned recently that their definition of boredom is taking the path of least resistance. The path of least resistance rarely leads us to the excitement and fulfilling life that the Lord calls us into when we make Him Lord of our lives. His call is one of commitment and challenges that lead us to greatness.

A number of years ago I read two books that had a profound impact on my life. “The Barbarian Way” by Erwin McManus and “In a Pit with a Lion on a Snowy Day” by Mark Batterson. I bought the Barbarian way for each of my children to read as I wanted to challenge them in the call that the Lord has on their lives. If you haven’t read both of these, I would encourage you to do so. They are easy reads and carry a punch to encourage you in the extraordinary.

McManus says it this way, “If you are a follower of Christ, then you are called to fight for the heart of your King. It is a life fueled by passion – a passion for God and a passion for people.” Passionate people never take the path of least resistance. Their passion dictates which path they will take and passion always directs to the highest results, the best outcome possible, the most rewarding possibilities, or whatever obedience would command them to do. Passionate people are passionate about life. Passionate people are seldom bored and seldom take the path of least resistance.

I am so thankful that Jesus was passionate about you and me, so much that He did not take the path of least resistance but the difficult road that lead to greatness. Heb 12:1-3 …… And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us. 2 We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, the champion who initiates and perfects our faith. Because of the joy awaiting him, he endured the cross, disregarding its shame. Now he is seated in the place of honor beside God’s throne. 3 Think of all the hostility he endured from sinful people; then you won’t become weary and give up.
If you are bored, try adding a little passion and stop taking the path of least resistance. I guarantee you that boredom will leave you quicker then snow in Florida.
