I think the most beautiful and compassionate people are those who have known defeat, they have experienced suffering, they have felt the pain of loss, and have fought their way out of the depths of struggle, difficulty, pain, and despair. These people have an appreciation for life, who don’t need a lot of stuff or fluff to have a full and rewarding life. Their life experience fills them with compassion, gentleness and a realness toward others that cannot be manufactured apart from the lessons that difficult and challenging circumstances have taught them. They know how to be full while experiencing lack… be at peace in the midst of turmoil around them… experience joy while embracing loss… being secure in the wake of uncertainties… emanating love while receiving rejection… exude kindness in return for rudeness… and most importantly know their source is not of their own strength, but of the one who gave Himself for them and walk in the grace of life that He has provided.
May you celebrate His life by living your own to its fullness. As Paul said in Gal 2:20 I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.
