Just a few words on what you have just experienced this weekend. I find myself reminding people often that we do not come to church, we are the church. When you realize you are something and you didn’t come to something, it impacts you. If you didn’t come to something, you won’t leave something. I find too many Christians come to the building they call church, experience the service, then leave the church to come back next weekend with limited interaction in between. That is not the way it was designed by God to be. Jesus doesn’t ask us to come to church, He asks us to come to Him and be the church.

We can leave the building, but the church should continue to function. Two major keys in the function of the church are connection and community. Connecting people with God and connecting people with each other forming community. The reality of real church is that no one goes through anything alone! That is the power of community.

That thing (the church functioning together) you experienced this weekend, next to Jesus and the Holy Spirit, is the most powerful thing on the earth. Jesus said all the powers of hell cannot stop it.

Matt 16:18-19 Now I say to you that you are Peter (which means ‘rock’), and upon this rock (Peter just confessed that Jesus was the Christ)  I will build my church, and all the powers of hell will not conquer it.

Jesus is building His church and all the powers of hell cannot conquer it! That is the team we are on, and it will continue to grow and expand as His Kingdom fills the earth!
