As leaders, we are always on the lookout for more individuals that we can develop into leaders! Others who have a call to leadership. Most often there is a grid of leadership potential that we look through and while we may call it discernment, many times there is a real practical aspect to that grid that we view someone’s life through. Sometimes it is a gift mix, a personality trait, a leadership ability, or maybe even some external traits that seem to communicate to us, I think this person can be developed into a leader.
In looking for leaders, let’s not forget one of the most important ones, and don’t get me wrong, there are many that are important when you are looking to develop leaders. The first trait that is mentioned is of good reputation. In other words, the first focus was on how they were perceived in the eyes of others. Where they trustworthy, honorable, individuals who were faithful, showed up when they said they would and did what they said they would do. Not earth shattering, but extremely valuable in leadership!
In looking for developing leaders, look for those who have a good reputation. And, make sure that in the process your is intact as well!
