The disciples had just lived through the most traumatized few days of their lives. They had just experienced the horrible death of Jesus, their leader whom they had come to love and whom had so powerfully demonstrated the power of God’s love toward them and others. And now He was gone! What now?

And I believe they were in hiding too, fearing for their personal lives. And Jesus appears in the room. Luke 24:36-39 While they were saying all this, Jesus appeared to them and said, “Peace be with you.” 37 They thought they were seeing a ghost and were scared half to death. 38 He continued with them, “Don’t be upset, and don’t let all these doubting questions take over. (MSG)

They were already filled with fear and Jesus suddenly appearing didn’t help their emotions a whole lot. How many times do we hide away from life, people, circumstances, situations, reality, cowering in fear wondering what the future holds. Jesus wants to invade that room (safe place) you have retreated to out of fear. The words he spoke to these early disciples apply to us as well, …. “Don’t be upset, and don’t let all these doubting questions take over.”

Remember, the place most often utilized by the enemy in life is in the feeling room / arena. Give Jesus entrance and He will dispel the fear, bringing hope and truth to the situation.
