I was driving down the road a number of months ago contemplating a number of challenging situations I was then currently facing. Was I making the right choice, was I doing the right thing? Then this thought seemingly out of nowhere charged into my brain. “They are going to laugh at my funeral!” What??? That is a random thought. Where did that come from? But the more I thought about it, I realized it’s true. Somewhere though out the celebration of life or whatever they decide to do, memories will be shared that will cause people to laugh. It is part of the healing process! It was also a reminder to me that possibly at times I make things too heavy, too serious and I need to lighten up a bit; maybe not be so hard on yourself Ron, was the voice in my head. Just a thought! I am not saying you shouldn’t take life seriously, just remember Jesus led you through every other situation, He will lead you through this one as well.
Laughter is a healer! When you are going through a challenging time, a painful time, or just a downright frustrating time, taking time to laugh brings such a relief and is healing in itself. It says in Prov 17:22 A cheerful disposition is good for your health; (The Message) There have been times in my life where I have had to make the choice to either laugh or cry. While crying has its place as well, there is something powerful about laughter. If laughter can bring healing to others, why not let it bring healing to you?
