We know that each of us is extremely valuable to God and the Kingdom. After all, you determine the value of something by the price that is paid. The price that was paid for you and I was the most valuable price ever, the blood of Jesus Christ. It doesn’t get more expensive than that.

I know that I have tremendous value, but I also desire to carry more worth in the Kingdom. Play on words? Read what Jesus says when he talks about an obedient servant.

“When a servant comes in from plowing or taking care of sheep, does his master say, ‘Come in and eat with me’? 8 No, he says, ‘Prepare my meal, put on your apron, and serve me while I eat. Then you can eat later.’ 9 And does the master thank the servant for doing what he was told to do? Of course not. 10 In the same way, when you obey me you should say, ‘We are unworthy servants who have simply done our duty.'” Luke 17:7-10 – NLT

So being an obedient servant ranks me right up there with being unworthy because I have simply done my duty by obediently doing what I was asked to do. Well, then what does it take to increase my worth? Think of it this way. I can tell my son to mow the lawn and if he does it, I am happy, he obeyed my directives. The same is any employee who follows through on the directives of their manager or overseer. But when I am gone for the weekend and forget to tell my son to mow the lawn and he notices it getting scruffy on his own and mows it, his worth quotient has just risen 100%. That’s because he saw something on his own initiative that he knew would be on my heart if I was there and completed it without being asked. The same is true of any employee. The ones of greater worth to the organization are the ones who not only do what is asked of them, but go the extra mile and do that things that they know would be on their managers heart because they know the heart of the manager.

Now bring it into the Kingdom. I desire to bring greater worth to the Kingdom and one way I do that is by getting the heart of the Father in me so that He doesn’t always have to tell me everything I need to do. I just do what is right on my own initiative because I carry the heart of the Father in me and I know His ways. The more I do what is on His heart without Him having to tell me increases my worth to the Kingdom.

May your worth increase today. Not by just doing what is asked of you but by moving in the Father’s heart and on your own initiative doing His will.
