When you think of the term “Conqueror”, what comes to your mind?

I am sure that some of the expressions that do not come to mind are words like, defeated, discouraged, a loser, overwhelmed, disappointed, depressed, insecure, timid, or surrendered, just to name a few.

When you think of someone who is a conqueror, you think in terms of, winner, victor, over comer, victorious, on top, the one who has gained control, one who is secure in who they are, confident, bold, courageous, on the victory side of things. One who knows who they are and where they are going. All of these terms speak of someone who is a conqueror, one who has gained the upper hand on things.

Paul writes in Romans that you are more than all the things I just wrote down!!! That’s right, Paul says, you are more than a conqueror!! Rom 8:37 “Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.” New Living translation says it this way, “No, despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us.”

Overwhelming Victory!!! That’s pretty clear. If you do not feel that way today, it’s time to take a reality check. You are more than a conqueror! Not based upon past performance last week, but based upon your position in Christ. Despite anything you just went through, any struggle you have just encountered, any failure you have just experienced, regardless of how you feel right this moment, the reality is that you have the upper hand through Christ. As you take your position and begin to see yourself as He sees you, it will cause your attitude to change and faith to rise in your heart. You begin to see yourself as He sees you. Not just in victory, but overwhelming victory! And that encourages me to press forward this week regardless of what happened last week.
