I read in a blog sometime ago, that anxiety is really the feeling of failure in advance. I thought that was interesting. There are times when I am personally anxious about something, how will I handle this situation, how am I going to get through that, what if I am not prepared, will I be able to accomplish what I said I would do, etc. The strange thing is, if I would take the time to consider the amount of times that the Holy Spirit has come through for me in the past, I shouldn’t be anxious one bit. But it is the thing that is seemingly looming in front of me that brings on the anxious thoughts. HUMMM!

There is a real cure for it though found in Phil 4:6-7  where Paul writes,  “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; 7 and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”  NKJV

I personally like the New Living Translation which says it even more plainly,  “Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. 7 Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.” NLT

A little over a year ago I wrote that worrying is a futile exercise, you cannot accomplish one good thing by worrying. It was interesting in that within a few weeks after writing that, I experienced a very anxious time in my life. I should have read my own post! The point is this, don’t worry about anything, pray about everything, and remember to thank Him for all He has already done. Of all the things I want to experience in advance, failure isn’t one of them.
