Dr. Caroline Leaf writes in her book “The Gift in You” that your gift is thwarted by toxic thoughts that we allow in our mind. She states that every thought is based in either fear or love and every thought based in fear or whose origin is fear, is toxic to not only our metal health but also our physical health. Every thought based or originated in fear releases a toxin. That is how our mind remembers the thought. When we have a new thought related to the old thought it adds to the toxins already present and things become more toxic. This is a very simple explanation to a very complex, detailed description of all that takes place in our brain physically while we are thinking. She equates these two thought lines to two tress that will produce either good fruit or bad fruit.

Every thought releases chemicals which have a consequence. Thoughts rooted in love release good chemicals which produce good fruit and feelings, health and well being. Thoughts rooted in fear release toxic chemicals which produce bad fruit and feelings causing sickness and disease. I guess John had it right when he wrote, “There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love.” 1 John 4:18-19 NKJV

Too many toxic thoughts will lead to greater and greater toxicity which leads to all kinds of physical problems (bad fruit). She writes, “….our thoughts have consequences, which are manifestation – the toxic fruit on the tree.  87 – 95% of mental and physical illness today comes from our thought lives – these illnesses are the bad fruit on the tree.”

Since we are producing fruit all the time, I guess the question remains, what kind of fruit am I producing, good fruit or bad fruit. Not only is life and death in the power of our tongue, it appears as though life and death can also be in the depths of our minds. Solomon said it in Prov 23:7 For as he thinks in his heart, so is he. NKJV

It is bad enough to live in a toxic world, but even worse to think in one.
