Are you an original or a copy? Sometimes I experience leaders trying to be someone they are not. They hear someone speak, see someone lead a certain way, and try and mimic what they saw or heard. While I am a firm believer in the ongoing learning process, I do believe that you need to develop the leader within you without trying to be someone you’re not.

I was in a meeting some time ago and the guest preacher was preaching with exactly the style, verbiage, and even body movements of a well know speaker. I smiled as I thought, that sounds and looks exactly like……. While we can learn so much from other leaders, don’t neglect the leader that the Lord has created you to be. Learn from others but develop the leadership style the Lord has given you. After all, the original is always of greater value than the copy.
