On any given day I am faced with the reality of what to do in light of circumstances or situations that are currently unfolding or have taken place in my field of responsibility with any number of individuals.  I am faced with the decision of either reacting to the situation or responding to the Holy Spirit in light of the situation. I have come to the conclusion long ago that my tendency, far too often, is to react to the circumstance vs. respond to the Holy Spirit in light of the circumstance.

I like this quote I came across the other day that lends itself to this. Be careful not do something permanently stupid because you are temporarily angry, stressed, afraid, tired, or hungry.  –  Karen Salmansohn. Most of the stupid things I do, either permanent or even temporary, come from my reaction based mindset, very often for one of the reasons listed above.  I find that I have a much wiser response when I take the time, even if it is a short momentary pause, to respond to the Holy Spirit in light of the situation.

May you find the grace to pause and respond vs. react to any given circumstance hurled at you today.  Everyone around you will be the better for it!
