There are a lot of dark things happening in the world we live in. We can choose to stumble around in the dark, as I do almost every morning so that I don’t wake up Bonnie. Or we can do something much more effective.  Most times I just stumble through the dark. One morning years ago, I got up in the middle of the night for an early morning flight and walked toward the bathroom in the dark so that I wouldn’t bother Bonnie. I had forgotten that I had placed my half packed suitcase on the floor at the foot of the bed. And yes, I collided with it. I hadn’t turned on the light so that I wouldn’t create a stir in the room, but the yell from my lips as I tore the nail off my big toe defeated any aspirations I had of a stealthy exit. Bonnie’s admonition, “Why don’t you just turn the light on?”

Great question! So as we navigate darkness in the world around us, we can do one of two things, 1) Stumble through hoping no one notices or 2) Turn the light on! Jesus told the disciples in Matt 5:14 “You are the light of the world—like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden. Why stumble when we can bring light. We can’t always answer all the questions but we can certainly bring Jesus (Light) into any and every situation. It’s who you are and who he created you to be. Let Him shine through you.

As you navigate today, don’t stumble, turn the light on. Take it from me, it will be a lot less painful!
