I received a call from a fund raiser the last week of 2016 and she asked if I would like to donate to the worthy cause she was representing. It seems I had given in the past and she was asking me to, not only contribute again but would I be willing to increase my amount. My next question threw her off base. “Can you tell me the percentage of my pledge that will actually get to the ones I am contributing too?” “Excuse me?” she asked. I repeated, “Do you know what percentage of the amount you want me to give actually goes to the need?” She stammered for a moment, “Sir, we have been told that at least 10% will go toward that!” Now it was my turn to say excuse me! “Are you serious? Only 10%?” “I am only being honest sir.” She replied sheepishly. “Thank you for being honest, but I think I will pass.”
As I have mentioned numerous times, one of keystones of our Christian walk is generosity, For God so loved He gave….. Just make sure where you give, it is used wisely! Praying for you to have a prosperous year and that you would be blessed beyond expectation. 3 John 2 Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers. NKJV Give generously in 2017 but also give wisely. Start with tithing to your local church and then ask the Lord to direct you to other opportunities.
