In Mark 16, Jesus said: “17 These miraculous signs will accompany those who believe: They will cast out demons in my name, and they will speak in new languages. 18 They will be able to handle snakes with safety, and if they drink anything poisonous, it won’t hurt them. They will be able to place their hands on the sick, and they will be healed.” NLT

Bill Johnson reminds us that the purpose of a sign is to point to something greater than the sign. In reality we are never content with just seeing the sign. If I am traveling through an airport and need a coffee, I am not content with just seeing the sign, Starbucks —>

We should never be content with just experiencing the signs Jesus mentions here in this passage. It is great to be healed but much greater to come into relationship with the healer. It’s wonderful to be delivered but even better to experience the deliverer. Exciting to experience the miraculous but even more so to know the heart of the miracle worker. Don’t stop short and just desire to see the signs, press deeper to experience the fullness of a relationship with the author of all of these things.

Signs are not an end to themselves; they merely point you to the one that is really important, Jesus!
